Cherry loveOh, I just love cherries!  Love them so much that they are my first fruit spotlight on the blog.  I typically do a list of certain foods like a top 5 or top 10 list, but since I currently have a major crush on cherries, I thought I’d dedicate a post just to these beauties.

The summer is peak season for cherries, which means enjoy them as much as you can…right now!  It’s typically ideal to eat fruits and veggies that are in season, however, you can still enjoy cherries during non-summer months by choosing the organic frozen cherries.  I love both fresh and frozen cherries and often add frozen sweet dark cherries to my smoothies!

In addition to being delicious, cherries are awesome for our overall health.  They are rich in antioxidants and in fact are one of the fruits with the highest amounts of antioxidants.  They are a great source of vitamin C, beta-carotene, potassium, fiber, and melatonin.  Melatonin can help improve our sleep so add in more cherries to ensure you’re getting your best beauty sleep!  And speaking of beauty, cherries can also aid in pretty skin and slowing down our skin’s aging process.  I’ll take that!

Cherries are also great for our immune system, weight loss, cancer prevention, and allievating headaches.

So now for some cherry recipe ideas you can try!
