The month of LOVE is here! That means dark chocolate covered strawberries each and every day…well, if I had it my way;) These cupid-approved bites of Heaven are a Valentine’s Day favorite, but they’re also perfect any day you want a guilt-free indulgence.
February is also heart health month {ironic? I think not!}. Luckily, these can be a sweet treat for your heart as well, with all the powerful health benefits of strawberries and the benefits of dark chocolate – yes, chocolate is good for your health!
Now, not all dark chocolate covered strawberries are created equal. When you purchase them, you run the risk of an unnecessary amount of added sugar + a lower quality. In this video, I share with you a healthy and super easy way to make these sweet delights. You can make them in less than 30 minutes, plus all you need are two ingredients: organic strawberries & a couple of dark chocolate bars {at least 70% cacao}.

You can make these for your Valentine or for yourself for some self-love! You can also make them for a friend, family member or bring them to a party. I took these little guys to a Super Bowl party:
Which reminds me, you can do all kinds of fun things with these chocolate strawberries! As I said in the video, you can add some cinnamon or cayenne pepper to spice them up or you can buy different types of dark chocolate {think mint, ginger, spiced chili}. You can also decorate your strawberries with a little icing like I did to make the footballs. You can write your loved ones initials, draw hearts or make x’s & o’s.
If you want to make them even healthier, you can make your own chocolate by mixing raw cacao, melted coconut oil, almond butter & maple syrup {my obsession & my homemade chocolate mix}, coat the strawberries and put in fridge for at least 20 minutes. OR if you want to make it super simple, just follow the directions in this video…whatever you prefer, my sweets!
Also, with just finishing the sugar series, Is Sugar the New Tobacco & 10 Ways to Decrease Your Sugar Cravings, these chocolate strawberries come to you at a perfect time to satisfy your sweet tooth in a much healthier way!
To healthy hearts, chocolate + love,
